In March 2011 I was invited to work on a project themed “cabbage” for an exhibition in France for a gallery related to a hotel management school. Each year they choose a different food theme, that year being cabbage. This exhibition consisted of paintings, installations, photos and a short video. I created different pieces of work placed around a real red cabbage using different media and materials to realise the project. The cabbage linked to the circle work I was doing because of its round simple shape. It was a substitute for the circles. The work included a photographic series, firstly showing the cabbage as an object on its own and secondly placing it along with a person, which was in itself again a variation of the portraiture.

2011
